Slavko SplichalSlavko Splichal is a Professor of Communication and Public Opinion at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana and an associate member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is the founder and director of the European Institute for Communication and Culture and of its journal Javnost-The Public. Between 1987 and 2012 he was a programme director of EURICOM Colloquia. His recent English-language monographs include Public Opinion: Developments and Controversies in the Twentieth Century (Rowman & Littlefield, 1999), Principles of Publicity and Press Freedom (Rowman & Littlefield, 2002) and Transnationalization of the Public Sphere and the Fate of the Public (Hampton Press, 2011). His research interests include communication theory, media politics, public opinion, and communication research methods.
